ISLAMABAD – Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest exploration and production company, has started production from the Chanda-7 well in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and revitalized the Kunnar-8 well in Hyderabad, Sindh, to boost oil and gas output.
Chanda-7, a new development well, is now producing 305 barrels of oil per day, 2.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, and 3 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas daily. This well is connected to OGDCL’s Chanda Plant, with gas feeding into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited network. Its production is expected to save $22.57 million annually in foreign exchange by reducing imports.
The Kunnar-8 well, after re-completion, is now producing an additional 540 barrels of oil per day, projected to save $15.94 million annually in foreign exchange through import substitution.
These developments highlight OGDCL’s commitment to optimizing production and the effectiveness of modern recovery techniques in enhancing output from mature wells.
